After a great night’s sleep in the River View King room at the Hyatt Perth – we woke up to a spectacular morning view over the Swan River. We ventured downstairs for breakfast to “Café”.
“Café at the Hyatt” was the location of our very first dinner date – so it was very nostalgic for Chef and I. Since that date, a million years ago, Café has had a refurbishment. Though they have a breakfast a La Carte menu available, the restaurant encompasses three interactive buffet stations; the Deli, Pastries & Juice Station, Show kitchen (hot foods) & the Savoury and Fruit Bar (Cereals, waffles, pancakes, muesli)
Chef started the day with coffee and doughnuts which I found quite amusing! He has some (usually) well hidden Homer Simpson qualities. After a couple of pastries and juice myself, we headed to the hot kitchen station.
We were spoilt for choice. There were bacon, mushrooms, cheesy potatoes, tomatoes… much of your usual breakfast food. There were lovely, creamy scrambled eggs. You could have your eggs cooked how you liked or an omelette cooked as you wait.
I really loved the mini Cumberland sausages too, much better quality than the usual chipolatas you would get at a buffet. I also found, unlike some other hotel buffets, that the temperature of the food was pretty hot. We didn’t even make it to the third station, there was no room left for pancakes and my favourite bircher muesli. We found the food was very fresh and very tasty. An excellent place for breakfast! It is a credit to Executive Chef Mark Sainsbury. We’d actually say that Café is THE BEST buffet in Perth (The Atrium at Crown runs a very close second).
We had a wonderful night out, I felt like I’d been on a mini break!! It was so nice not to have to worry about who was going to be the “designated driver” or getting an $80 taxi ride home – we could just RELAX and enjoy ourselves!! Thank you to Katrina, Karlee and the staff at the Perth Hyatt who looked after us so fabulously and made us feel so welcome after all these years! The bottle of vino and truffles in our room was a lovely surprise!!
