George Street is one of those fantastic streets where there are multiple places to eat, drink and shop. Its in East Fremantle, just a few blocks south of the Tradewinds Hotel.
George Street is great for a wander round gift shops and boutiques and has endless possibilities for bunch, lunch, dinner or a coffee. There’s also a park, so it’s a good spot for kids too.
At the east end presides the Grand George Hotel, which is sometimes empty, sometimes it holds an art gallery. It’s a stunning federation building and it’s sad that this grand old lady isn’t put to better use.
As you walk down the street, passing lovely little cottages, there’s Barque, Cookie Dough Biscuits (wonderful cookies, coffee and cupcakes), The George Street Bistro (who claim to have Freo’s BEST pancakes!), Hubble’s Yard, The Wine Store and much, much more.
Next on our list is a visit to the popular restaurant Barque, who’s Asian fusion brunches and dinners sound very enticing. I’ve heard great things about their delicious duck spring rolls!
So whatever floats your boat or tickles your fancy – you’re bound to find it on the gorgeous George street.
