Flinderz – Hillarys

Flinderz is an old favourite of ours. Back in 2014/15 Chef was the Head Chef there, before he left for the bright floodlights of Domain Stadium and the WACA, cooking for his sporting heroes. Chef loved Flinderz, but pretty much never had an opportunity to actually dine there, because he was always so darned busy at the bustling suburban gem. We were really excited to revisit Flinderz after owner Louise  invited us in for brunch.img_3526

Flinderz is in Hillarys, but it isn’t found at the Boat Harbour. The modern café is located at the leafy Hillary’s Shopping Centre on Finders Avenue. I like to dine in their shady alfresco area, with it’s pretty greenery and chilled atmosphere. It a good spot for a lazy brunch or lunch.img_3522

There’s a good choice of drinks – coffee, tea, smoothies and more. We’ve always found them to have quality coffee.img_3481

Little Chef ordered his favourite – a babycino. I also enjoyed a refreshing juice after my caffeine fix.img_3510

Since I last visited there’s been some interesting new additions to the Flinderz brunch menu. I really liked the sound of their house smoked Atlantic salmon and the French toast, but opted for my favourite House made granola, $17.img_3495

When the food arrived it looked really delicious and my granola tasted great too – the honeyed oats and seeds are toasted and served with dried fruits with a whibbly wobbly yogurt panna cotta sitting in the middle of the bowl, along with a fruit coulis. I drown this pretty brekkie in milk and it’s just as tasty as I remember.img_3505

Chef, ever the predicable diner, really enjoyed his favourite brekkie dish of eggs benedict, $19. A fluffy house made English muffin is topped with honey baked ham, spinach and perfectly poached eggs, all coated in creamy hollandaise. He added a side of snags.img_3490

Little Chef said his fluffy pancakes were really yummy and loved them being served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream too.img_3489

For the ankle biters there’s entertainment in the form of a kids corner and a few mini iPads too. The kid’s play corner is fenced and gated and is fantastic for keeping busy toddlers and pre-schoolers busy. There’s loads of toys with a big play kitchen and dollhouse.img_3515

Flinderz is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and coffee n cake. It’s a lovely spot for a catch up with (or without!) little kids in tow. The service is good and the food is tasty and fresh.img_3514
