One of Perth’s most highly regarded brunch spots is Sayers Sister, found on the quiet end of Lake Street, near to Hyde Park. The interior is gorgeous. It has a shabby chic feel, with elegant glass pendant lights and comfy high backed armchairs.
The coffee is top notch. There’s a well curated menu full of brekkie staples and some surprises, like waffles and their ever-popular croquettes.
From the brunch menu I chose the cumin spiced cod cake ($20.50). The crisp patty was plump and full of flaky fish. Served with wilted spinach, a poached egg and lashings of hollandaise – making it a very filling and tasty brunch. The caper and caper salsa gave the dish great bite too. And just look at that runny yolk! #eggporn
My brunch companion felt like something a little sweet, so chose one of the freshly baked cakes that are on display. This huge serving of white chocolate and passionfruit cheesecake looked scrumptious.
It’s not always the best starting point when you have such high expectations, as there’s no where to go but down. In Sayers Sister’s case, I found that all of the praise and rave worthy accounts of delicious food was absolutely spot on. A must try!
